| Heavy Snow Means More Terrain for Telluride Ski Resort |
Lift 5 Area Opens Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006
TELLURIDE, Colo. (Nov. 30, 2006) – The Telluride Ski Resort (Telski) announced Lift 5 and more terrain including nine additional runs will open this Saturday, Dec. 2. Mountain Operations crews are working on opening terrain off of Lift 6 & 9 by next Thursday, Dec. 7. Lift 7 will open for access Sat. Dec. 2 & Sun. Dec. 3.
"Conditions changed overnight," said Jeff Proteau, senior vice president of resort operations Telski. "We went from warm to cold and snowy. Although there is currently an abundance of snow up high, access points still need to be connected. The favorable conditions allow snowmaking crews to move quickly which allows us to open a sequence of lifts and terrain hopefully by next Thursday. This would be the earliest we've opened the 9 area in years."
The additional terrain opens right after a huge storm dropped 15 inches providing more runs and powder stashes for skiers of all ability levels. Lift 5 runs include Ophir Loop, Dew Drop, Alta, Polar Queen, and Palmyra. New runs off of Lift 4 are Peek-a-boo, Humboldt Draw, Boomerang, and Misty Maiden.
