Pay it Back; Grow the Future

At some point during the development of your business or career, someone helped you with advice. Now you have an opportunity to help another aspiring entrepreneur by becoming a member of the Service Corp of Retired Executives, SCORE. This national organization has a Bozeman chapter that is very busy counseling people who are starting their businesses. Many need simple help with marketing, purchasing, employment or financial issues. Most are in their infancy. Bozeman SCORE needs more volunteers to help, just a few hours a month and you don't have to be retired to help another business establish its roots. Please contact Karen Vinton if you are interested.

Concerned about Work Comp rates?

Chamber members have an opportunity to affect possible legislation in the 2011 legislative session by attending an open forum on Sept. 3. Rep. Gordon Vance is the vice chair of the Interim Committee on Economic Affairs. That committee will work on issues surrounding work comp during the next 18 months. Rep. Vance wants to hear from business owners and managers who have ideas on improving Montana's standing as the second-worst state for work comp rates. The meeting will be at the Chamber at 7:00 a.m. For more info contact David Smith at 922-0448.

Eggs & Issues

Our next Eggs & Issues will not have eggs, but it will have issues - join us for the Bozeman City Commission candidate forum on Friday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 a.m. at the Best Western GranTree Inn. Co-sponsored by the Gallatin Association of Realtors, the candidates for commission will participate in an open forum. There is no charge for this event, so be an informed voter!
