| August 4 QUICK POLL |
This week's QuickPoll is about health care reform. Answer the few questions here. |
| July 21 QUICK POLL RESULTS |
| Chamber members are more pessimistic about the local economy than they have been in recent quarters. Our 2nd Quarter poll showed 38 percent have had sales decrease more than 5 percent versus the 2nd quarter of 2008; 51 percent of the respondents say the local economy is 'in a downturn. One respondent did have some good news: "Our growth in the first half of this year is 40% over the first half of '08... We could all use to hear encouraging reports, not just the discouraging." Thanks to all our members who attended our 100th Anniversary Business After Hours on July 30 (including the Bozeman Police Department). We were pleased to have 20-plus non profits, including the Montana Outdoor Science School (below). Unfortunately Ben or Gail Yanker from Buffalo Restoration weren’t there, so the pot grows to $350 when we meet at Olivelle and Malibu Tan (Gallatin Center on N. 19th) on Thursday, August 27th.
Interested in donating door prizes for Business After Hours? This is a great way to get your business name in front of 200-250 chamber members. Luci Edwards, Prudential Montana Real Estate, will be assisting the chamber in contacting businesses who are interested in donating prizes. Luci is our Task Force Leader for Business After Hour Door Prizes. Interested in joining one of our Membership Services Task Forces? Please contact Karri Clark, for further details.
Member of the Quarter
The strength of our organization is our legion of volunteers, so we are starting a new program of recognizing an outstanding volunteer every quarter. This individual is someone who has gone above and beyond their "volunteer" duties to help make a chamber event a success.
In June of each year, the Membership Services Committee Members work extremely hard in organizing our Operation Thank You Event. At this time, we would like to recognize Maria Gilman, LC Staffing, for going above and beyond her duties to help make this event such a huge success! Maria not only assists the committee with organizing the event, but she spends an entire day at the chamber office communicating last minute details to all 50 volunteers. Thank you, Maria, for all your hard work! We appreciate all that you do!
2nd Annual MSU/Chamber Turf Party
Come join us for the second MSU/Chamber Turf Party on Thursday, September 3rd at Bobcat Stadium. Hot dogs, beer, wine and refreshments will be provided as you will have the opportunity to meet with Coach Rob Ash and players before they head off to their big game against Michigan State! Champ, the MSU cheerleaders and the MSU Pep Band will also be on hand to jump start your football season.
Show your bobcat spirit and join us for this networking event! Plus, you’ll have the chance to win great Bobcat Athletics prizes. Event is $5 for members. This is a professional event, no children please. Brought to you by: Bobcat Athletics and the Bozeman Chamber MSU/Chamber Relations Committee.
