Canyon Services – A VRWeb Success Story

Canyon Services, a vacation rental company based in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, came to us for a new website back in January. Their existing site did not represent their brand well and didn't convert site visitors effectively. Based on their budget and timeline constraints, we determined that our semi-custom vacation rental website solution, VRWeb, was the answer.

The project brought with it a few unique challenges. First, the original Canyon Services website was so far removed from their brand, we were really starting from scratch on design – even the logo needed work.  Second, the client was in the midst of their busy season and didn’t have the resources in-house to devote to creating content or design.  We were able to engineer a solution that included a brand assessment, logo and web design, content creation and migration work, and a complete site-build and deployment for under $7500.  There was a time when a scope this expansive and a budget this tight would have set off alarm bells here in the office.  We were able to meet the challenge thanks to a few key factors.

The Client

We can’t say enough what a pleasure it was to work with the crew at Canyon Services.  Sara did a great job communicating the feel and emotions she wanted her new site to convey and she supported that with a list of a dozen websites and designs she thought also expressed the look she had in mind.  She even provided some specific color codes she thought would help.  The result was that we came back to her with a redesigned logo, homepage comp and style guide that was approved without a single revision! 

The Content Team

Content is the foundation for any successful website.  Thankfully the previous Canyon Services website was fairly content rich, so our first job was to migrate the existing content.  Our team was able to move over all relevant content, adapt it to the new site’s style and layout and even preserve the tables and images the client had spent years building on the old site.  Additionally we were able to create new content optimized for their target market and keyword space.

The Platform

VRWeb, build upon the ResCMS platform, allows us to build professional, beautiful websites integrated with industry-leading property management software (such as Instant Software & Escapia) at a fraction of what it would have cost to develop just a year ago.  Despite being a semi-custom solution, we have enormous flexibility to adapt and customize the platform to fit almost any vacation rental brand.  Additionally, it’s built so that the client can continue to manage and add content with ease.
